The Change in Childhood Summer
Kids today aren’t like kids were in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s or even 80s.
The days of “cops and robbers,” kickball and sunburn earned during a hard day live back with my memories of E.T. and Indiana Jones. That loss makes me a little sad to think about, but the reality is that families are a lot different now than they were in the not so distant past when I was a kid. I don’t think there are a lot of little boys, little girls and their friends who will get to enjoy the wonder that I knew spending the entire summer with cousins on the shores of Deer Lake in Wisconsin. This article is going to take a look at some of the other things lost to nostalgia, some of the ideas that matter a lot more than just a kid using her imagination.
